NARBONNE

Narbonne is 25 km from Castelsec. This roman city,
once capital of provincia romana, offers several
aspects: roman remnants, archbishop palace,
unfinished cathedral, Robine canal sides, market
place, shops.
Toward the beaches, L'oeil doux and the marine
cemetery deserve a visit.
On the road to Beziers, Enserune oppidum is a Celtic
fortified place, built on a hill from which there is a
curious view towards empty ponds.

BEZIERS

Beziers is a martyrized city built around a cathedral. It
is the traditional capital of the Languedoc wine area,
and the native place of Paul Riquet who created le Canal du Midi (visit the 7 locks).

LE SOMMAIL

Le Sommail is a charming port on the canal du midi, with a humpback bridge near a chapel, and a 1773 hostel. (possibility of boat hiring)

MINERVE

Minerve is a picturesque city, with canyons and
bridges, that must be visited on feet, as its middle age
streets are not suitable for vehicles.

MOULIN A PAPIER DE BROUSSE

In a shady valley, a stream activates the Brousse paper
mill, where hammers break cellulose fibers. Tourists
may have a guided visit and make their own Ingre paper sheet.
